If you are looking for some bridesmaids dresses on the cheap look for layers of matte chiffon. Polyester is ok, because when it is matte, and it is chiffon, it looks expensive. Chances are if you went to a chain bridal store you would be buying the same quality item for hundreds more. You still may want to get it altered, but opting for a shorter length dress will cut that cost in half.

Brides looking for elegant jewelry should keep an eye out for white gold colored metal against the clear jewel. Art deco styles are busy, but they show less of the shiny metal which is what will look cheapest.

Over the years I have experimented over and over with many beauty products. Here are two brands that I absolutely LOVE.

First: Philosophy.
Their products smell fresh, and make your skin feel new. Really new. They have something for every skin issue I've ever had and more.

Sometimes prepping your skin isn't enough, however.

That's where Benefit cosmetics come in. Their products eliminate the dark color under my eyes like no other product I have ever used. Erase paste or Lyin' Eyes, let it dry and BAM! Use some Oh La La Lift!

Most of the cosmetics I buy are Benefit now days, which is good, because compared to my second favorite skin cosmetic brand (Dior) their items are inexpensive and last a long time. I've been using that little jar of Erase Paste for over a year now, and it's not nearly gone. So $26 for something that lasts over a year is worth it to me, since I run out of concealer quickly.

I absolutely loved the unique names and colors, and of course the quality is great. As I've aged, I've shied away from sparkle (which a lot of UD eye shadows contain) so be sure to read the color descriptions if this is also something you're not into.

The Vamp: This look would work best for green or blue eyes. Black will really make light eye colors stand out and red lips are the perfect accessory. Red lips are hot these days and if you're afraid to try them during the day, this is a great night look. Green and red aren't just Christmas colors, they are also complementary and will really make your green eyes pop. Pair the dark red eyeshadow with some dark lips.. but I don't mean gothic black! Lightly tap some black lipstick onto your lips and blot off for a dark sultry look.

Horizontal stripes are usually part of every seasons trend. My favorite - grey stripes. They're less harsh than black on white and don't look as mime-ey.

Another one of my favorites - jumpers, or summer dresses that can be used as a jumper. Layering a black top underneath extends the life of the dress.

Dress 1: These stripes are more bold, so I kept the top simple and added matte yellow tights for excitement. Black open toe-d pumps finish this look.

Dress 2: Here the stripes are softer, so I used a shirt with more character, and some floral tights to add some texture. Pastel pink open toe-d pumps keep this look from pushing the edge too far. The shoes in with the soft grey and the femininity of the top and tights.

Dress 3: This dress has more design elements in addition to the stripes so I kept it simple with a plain black turtleneck and matte black tights. Fuchsia pumps bring some interest in the lower half of the body.

I definitely have a love/hate relationship with sequins. It seems hard to pull off the flashy look of them, but with the holidays coming up, I find myself drawn to the glitz. I decided to use some embelished flats. They're literally all over (at good prices) and an instant classic. Don't worry, you'll be wearing booties soon enough (and getting sick of them).

Keep a stock of medium to thick knit tights in Dark greys and black, they'll go with everything and extend your summer/fall wardrobe into winter.
Since they're thicker (and make make your legs look thicker too) try looking for the kind with vertical stripes.

Make your own natural and affordable red lip gloss.

Beet Lip Gloss via Pure2Spa

10 minutes; makes 1/2 ounce

What You Need:

(local and organic whenever possible)

1 beet (light-colored red beets yield a red shade; darker ones get you a merlot color)

3 drops olive oil

2 Tbsp powdered sugar

1 capsule of vitamin E oil

Repurposed lip gloss container or pillbox

Directions:

1. Remove beet from stem, wash, and chop into 1-inch pieces.

2. Place chopped beet in microwave-safe container and heat on high for 1 minute until it releases juice.

3. Pour beet juice and the rest of the ingredients in a small bowl and mix thoroughly (add sugar by the teaspoon until it reaches your desired thickness).

4. Empty the finished blend into a small jar, preferably a repurposed lip gloss container. Let the mixture sit for 2-3 hours to thicken, then apply as you like. It'll keep for 6-8 months.

I dressed up my pick with some sheer but shimmery tights and made the focus of the outfit the "lines". The bodysuit itself has a diagonal line, and the sweater has stripes and an interesting front drape. The shoes also have a muted two toned look that seems to mimic the body suit.

Dark makeup will pull this strong look together.

Stay away from pieces that make you look like you are a Gaga clone. Add your own personal style and it will stand out at a party or club.

One more thing, if you really want to rock the bodysuit and feel too self conscious, try using a shaper and always wear tights to hide any cellulite in the upper thighs.

I’m not going to lie, when Forever 21 first introduced their new line Twist in July, I wasn’t thrilled with the tutus, circus inspired frocks and overly-puffed skirts. However, while browsing the website today, I came across the new Twist items, and I couldn’t help but feel like they’ve turned their circus into a fancy tea party. I’m still not impressed with the collection as a whole, but I must say, a few items have me wanting to rush to my nearest Forever 21 to make sure they don’t sell out in a day like they always do!

I am especially loving the cameo lace cardigan and ruffle pleated coat. I could never find a coat remotely close to what I'm looking for, and when I do, it's usually not anywhere near my budget. The ruffle coat actually reminds me of an Anthropologie coat I had been wanting last year, but of course it was way more than the amount I would pay for.

It also comes in a dark gray, but I really like the brown "bark" color for fall. Features a banded scoop neck and side slit pockets. Top is 100% cotton short sleeve blouse with standing collar, button tab on rolled sleeve, and contrasting tie bow. All are a mix between casual, professional, and cute. If you are confused about these posts or discount shopping sites like Ideeli, let me explain. Companies like Ideeli, Gilt, HauteLook, etc, offer limited time "sample sales". Each day at around noon est, they put up new brands. They have limited pieces and because of the high discounts, items go fast. A lot of the time, even with the high markdowns, pieces still sell in the hundreds.

So if I come across a brand with pieces in my price range (about $50 and less), and I like the items, I may post about it. I think buying clothes this way is beneficial, because you're getting quality for an affordable price. Sure you can stock up on Forever 21 pieces, etc, but they will fall apart, sometimes very quickly. If an item normally retails for higher, there is a good chance it's made from better materials (although not always the case, so be sure to check).
