MENSWEAR: FROM DAY TO DATE

A simple button down plaid shirt can be transitioned from day to night easily. For day, pair with a classic t-shirt and hooded jacket with light jeans, topped with aviators. Impress your date by adding a skinny tie and swapping the hoody for a cleaned-up sweater. Switching your jeans out for a darker wash also lends to a more classic, tailored effect. SIMPLE AND INEXPENSIVE WITH A TWIST

I love autumn weather, it's great for layering. Here's a look I created almost entirely out of Target women's clothes (not juniors), using very basic pieces. Most of the items are $20 and under and available on their website. The tights are from Forever21.

These pieces aren't trendy on their own - which is great for our current economy. Trendy garments usually end up getting thrown out after a year, but these you can keep for a long time. Practice making interesting outfits with simple items and your wardrobe will go a long way.

This Look:

• Simple black long sleeve mini-dress with a wider neck hole. I'd buy this a size larger for layering purposes. The wider neck hole is better for showing a layered piece under it.
• Striped turtle neck. Another great idea would be a sheer organza or chiffon high necked blouse.
• A skinny belt in a color that pops. I choose a bright purple.
• Black tights with a single bright color pattern. This look already has stripes, so you don't want the tights to have too much going on. I chose a color of the same intensity and close to the belt on the color wheel. I want this look to be simple but not matchy-matchy.
• Re-use last years riding boots in black or pick these ones up from Target for $40.
• A feminine and interesting way to wear this striped, lightweight scarf would be as a big bow!
• A soft knit cap will finish this look off and keep you warm.

Because most of these pieces are black or grey, texture is important in making this outfit interesting.

HALLOWEEN EDITION: THE PUMPKIN

Next up we have The Pumpkin. This look is pretty easy to pull off. You'll need an orange shirt first of all. You can buy on etsy like the one above, or diy. Pumpkin faces are pretty simple to draw and it's Halloween, it doesn't need to be perfect! So just get out some black paint or a sharpie and you're good to go.

Next you'll need some type of leggings. If youre afraid to break out the shiny/sequin trend in your normal day life, why not try it out for Halloween? (Seen Above: Sequin, Shiny Black, Shiny Copper).

Accessorize with a green headband like the etsy ones seen above (leaf, scroll). Hit up a craft store and buy some fake vines to interwine throughout your costume, wherever you see fit. Finish it off with some green eyeshadow, sparkly black eyeliner, and some jewelry such as the copper cuff bracelet seen above.

Lastly, treat yourself to some pumpkin pie.
