Wear your shorts all season long, and even to work! Layer some tights and a cardigan to keep yourself warm. Replace the flats with a pair of boots when it starts to snow.

Horizontal stripes are usually part of every seasons trend. My favorite - grey stripes. They're less harsh than black on white and don't look as mime-ey.

Another one of my favorites - jumpers, or summer dresses that can be used as a jumper. Layering a black top underneath extends the life of the dress.

Dress 1: These stripes are more bold, so I kept the top simple and added matte yellow tights for excitement. Black open toe-d pumps finish this look.

Dress 2: Here the stripes are softer, so I used a shirt with more character, and some floral tights to add some texture. Pastel pink open toe-d pumps keep this look from pushing the edge too far. The shoes in with the soft grey and the femininity of the top and tights.

Dress 3: This dress has more design elements in addition to the stripes so I kept it simple with a plain black turtleneck and matte black tights. Fuchsia pumps bring some interest in the lower half of the body.

WORK MONDAY: WARM AND COMFY

It's been warmer than usual for this time of year (at least in upstate New York), but many businesses turn their heat on in October.
Here is a look that can get you through the confusing weather.

I decided to use some embelished flats. They're literally all over (at good prices) and an instant classic. Don't worry, you'll be wearing booties soon enough (and getting sick of them).

Keep a stock of medium to thick knit tights in Dark greys and black, they'll go with everything and extend your summer/fall wardrobe into winter.
Since they're thicker (and make make your legs look thicker too) try looking for the kind with vertical stripes.

TREND WATCH: HOT BODYSUIT

The Spring runway shows spit out plenty of these trendy bodysuits, here are some for amazing prices.

As always, when dressing up a trendy item, stay away from matching trend with trend. That means stay away from the black liquid leggings and 80s mini skirts. The trend is the body suit, not full on 80s.

I dressed up my pick with some sheer but shimmery tights and made the focus of the outfit the "lines". The bodysuit itself has a diagonal line, and the sweater has stripes and an interesting front drape. The shoes also have a muted two toned look that seems to mimic the body suit.

Dark makeup will pull this strong look together.

Stay away from pieces that make you look like you are a Gaga clone. Add your own personal style and it will stand out at a party or club.

One more thing, if you really want to rock the bodysuit and feel too self conscious, try using a shaper and always wear tights to hide any cellulite in the upper thighs.
